Alison was born and raised in Cape Town and graduated as a veterinarian in 1988 from Onderstepoort, Pretoria. After extensive experience practicing in the UK, South Africa and Hong Kong she moved to New Zealand in 1997.

Combining her love for Hawke’s Bay and her three wonderful sons with a passion for the veterinary care of cats, dogs and other small animals, Alison joined Carlyle Vets in 2010.

What little spare time she has is divided between her deep interest in endurance horse riding, walking to keep fit and to exercise her boundless curiosity for the natural world, and the second home of her childhood, the golf course.

“It was my undeserved but God-given gift to be a veterinary surgeon and I can’t think of another career in which I would rather have been engaged for my lifetime of work.”
